Eventually, the efforts pay off..

After applying for around 2050+ jobs through LinkedIn, 500+ jobs through multiple job portals, 350+ direct email job applications, last week, on May 22, 2019, I got the kind of job I was looking for. It just happened when it was least expected (although, I am still coming to terms with that, but now, it’s for real !!)

The following lines have always been very close to my heart and mind as it aptly reflects my journey so far:

Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho , to puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai”

Movie name: Om Shanti Om, 2007

This above dialogue from the movie translates to:

When you really desire something from the heart and soul, all the universe conspires you to achieve it”

Paulo Coelho, the Alchemist

There’s no better way to express my emotions that I am undergoing since the last 8 days because it’s exhilarating and worth writing about.

Somewhere deep down inside me, I had this unshaken belief that good things will happen – not just from getting a job perspective – but getting a deserving opportunity to do what I love. Once I had that in place, I knew I had to try all possible and viable options to reach my desired goal.

After graduating from my Master’s degree program last year, I did some unpaid, part-time, volunteer jobs for the greater part of last 1.5 years – it was tough, but I never stopped trying harder – all of these jobs played a vital role in my pursuit.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel negative, demotivated, worried, scared at some point due to the rejections that I got during the various interviews or just at the stage of initial job applications – also, at times, it lead to doubting my own capabilities (which is totally wrong, but the emotions take the better of you and I am sure it happens to many of us…)

All these were risks – some big, some small and some could have gone wrong. As humans, we are much stronger than we think and it is just that leap of faith we need to take in our efforts to go whichever direction we want to.

As long as we trust the process we have chosen to follow, there is light on the other end of the tunnel.
